Learn the play the greatest sport on earth!

With the arrival of the Seattle Kraken, there’s never been a more exciting time to learn hockey.

Our Spring session begins May 20th and runs on Wednesdays from 6:00–6:45 PM. The program follows the USA Hockey Initiation Program (IP), focusing on fun while building a strong foundation in skating, stickhandling, shooting, basic rules, and team play. Players are introduced to key elements like conditioning, safety, and sportsmanship, all within a progressive development model designed to prepare them to join a team and become part of Kent Valley Hockey Association.

Our instructors are experienced coaches and parents who are committed to teaching the game in a way that is both fun and challenging. All coaches are USA Hockey registered, SafeSport certified, and have passed background checks. They also participate in ongoing training to stay current with the latest coaching techniques, so you can feel confident your child is learning in a safe and positive environment.

Equipment Information

No gear? No problem. Kent Valley Ice Centre offers a full equipment rental package for Learn-to-Play Hockey participants for $80 per 6-week session, along with a $200 refundable security deposit. The rental includes all core equipment—helmet, skates, pads, gloves, and a hockey bag. Players will just need to purchase a mouthguard, protective cup, hockey socks, and a stick, all of which are available in our Pro Shop.

If you already have rental equipment from the regular season, you can extend your rental for $80 with no additional deposit required. Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged.

Gear Fittings

If you plan to rent equipment, please contact Harry Smith at hockeydirector@kentvalleyhockey.com as soon as possible to schedule a fitting. Please note that fittings will not be available on the first day of class.
