Hockey is more than just a game. It’s a lifestyle. Our beginner Adult Learn to Play hockey program is for hockey players 15 years or older with little to no experience. Our goal is to expand the hockey community and prepare players for the next step in their hockey career, to join the Kraken Hockey League! Each week our professional hockey instructors will teach the most important skills and drills that are necessary to play the game. Every session will start with power skating and edgework to develop and improve skating ability, including forward stride, power turns, stopping, crossovers, and backwards skating. Stickhandling and shooting exercises will be used to improve puck control and scoring ability. In addition, participants will perform USA Hockey approved drills that are proven to enhance Hockey IQ and on-ice awareness. Competitive and fun small area games/scrimmages will be supplemented to end each skate. In just 8 weeks you will be ready to play in the big leagues!

Each player must have all hockey gear as required by USA Hockey. The Kent Valley Ice Centre pro shop offers an equipment gear package for players in our Adult Learn to Play Hockey Program at 15% off retail. Your gear package includes: Helmet, Skates, Pants, Shin Pads, Shoulder Pads, Elbow Pads, Gloves, Jock, and stick. Jerseys & socks will be provided at no cost to every participant. Spots are limited, so please register early!
